Hi, I’m Susannah - I’m glad you’re here.

Maybe you’re considering whether therapy might help you with what you’re going through right now. Maybe you came across my work another way and want to find out more about what I do. Or maybe you want to reach out to me about some work, writing, or a collaboration.

Whatever it is, I’m glad you’re here.

Let me introduce myself a little more. I’m a HCPC Practitioner Psychologist & BPS Chartered Counselling Psychologist in the UK, and an individual and relationship therapist. I feel truly fortunate to work in a profession I love.

My Approach

I work from a pluralistic framework, both evidence-based and relational.

This means that when we work together, I draw on different therapy models I have trained in to fit what you are seeking therapy for. Therapy is collaborative and flexible and I offer short, medium and longer term therapy. I hold the therapeutic relationship at the heart of my practice, and believe that human relationships play an important part in our daily lives.

I consider health and well-being through a biopsychosocial framework. So often we can blame ourselves for what we are going through, when a more helpful way of viewing our struggles can be found by considering the interconnection between biology, psychology, and socio-environmental factors. I also hold an intersectional lens to therapy and the ways oppression (such as sexism, ableism, racism, classism, transphobia, homophobia and bi+phobia) impact lived experience. I’m committed to ongoing study of therapy as an anti-oppressive practice.

As a GSRD (gender, sex & relationship diversity) informed practitioner, my practice is inclusive, and based on the principle that no gender, sex (sexuality or biological) or relationship structure is better, more valid, or preferable than another.

Brief Bio

I have offered psychological therapy to adults with a range of mental health challenges within primary and secondary care NHS mental health settings, as well as hospital health care settings with adults experiencing physical health difficulties. In the private sector, I have worked with people focusing on mental health struggles, relationship difficulties, compulsive sexual behaviour, and GSRD aware therapy. Always interested in the ways psychology can be taken outside the clinic room, I have presented psychology related topics in a variety of settings. These have included: 'The importance of empathy when consulting patients' to junior medical doctors, 'How to engage Millennials (Gen Y) in the workplace' to business leaders, 'The use of CBT within the context of physical health diagnoses' to parents, and 'Considerations for Couples Therapists when working with Ex-Boarders & Partners' to counselling professionals. I recently contributed a chapter on bi+ aware therapy to Pink Therapy’s new GSRD books due out in 2023.

Prior to completing my doctoral training, I worked in the City for a management consultancy focusing on employee wellbeing and best practices; and my experience within the personal development field spans over 20 years. I have a long held interest in yoga therapy for mental and emotional wellness, holistic well-being and expressive therapy models (movement, art and music), usually delivered in community settings.
